Corpus Christi Arrecife 2012
One of the main popular traditions in the capital city of Arrecife is the design of sea salt carpets on the eve of Corpus Christi.

1 pm mass and procession departing San Gines Church.
Arrecife wakes up to colourful streets decorated with salt carpets designed by the locals. The inhabitants admire the works of art until noon, time when the procession which pays tribute to the Body of Christ, leaves San Gines church taking His image through the main roads of the city.
With a deep-rooted religious nature, the locals live this celebration as a reunion with neighbours, local cooperation and respect for the folkloric traditions which are essential heritage of previous generations of Lanzarote.
